FAQs

How much exercise will my dogs get?

Included in the price of boarding are three 20 minute playtimes in the yards per day. During these play times we will throw the ball, give them snuggles, run around, or whatever they love to do. At check in, you will have the option to sign your dog up for additional walks, play times, or swims when in season. Check out our Dog Boarding page to read more on extra exercise!

What should I bring for my pet?

You may bring whatever your pet may need to make them feel more comfortable during their stay with us. This may include a bed, blankets, toys, a t-shirt with your scent on it, etc. You may bring their own food and treats, and any medications they may need during their stay as well. However, we do have plenty of extra blankets and provide our own food at no additional cost if you prefer. Check out our Dog Boarding page for more information on what you need for your pet’s stay!

What food do you offer at the facility?

We offer Purina Pro Plan in a variety of formulas at our facility including, Adult, and Performance. We also have a Purina cat food formula we provide as well. Providing our food comes at no additional cost to boarding. If your pup tends to have a sensitive stomach, or is a picky eater, we do recommend that you provide their own food during their stay to prevent any issues. Check out our Dog Boarding page to read more about your pup’s stay!

How far in advance do I need to make a reservation?

To make a reservation we ask that you give us as much notice as possible to ensure a space for your pet. During the busy holiday seasons and spring break, we recommend making reservations at least 30 days in advance, or as soon as you know you are going to be traveling during those times. We fill up fast during those times and often take reservations a few months in advance. Head over to our Contact Page in order to inquire about making a reservation!

Will my dogs play with other dogs?

At our facility we do not intermingle our dogs. We take pride in the fact that each dog has their own customized experience at the Pet Resort. It gives them the ability to focus on playing with our staff in a safe and controlled environment. This allows us to take ANY dog, including those who may not get along well with others. Check out our Dog Boarding page to read more about our facility!

What vaccinations do you require?

In order for you pup to stay with us, we do require that we have a copy of updated vaccination records on file. We want to ensure that they are up to date on Parvo/Distemper, Rabies, and Bordetella. For cats, we require both Rabies and FVRCPP. You may either bring a copy in when you check your pup in for their stay, email us a copy, or have us give your vet a call to get ahold of those vaccination records as well. Check out our Dog Boarding and Cat Boarding pages to read more information on vaccination requirements!

What if my pet is on medication?

We want to ensure that we provide the best quality care for your pet while they stay with us at the Pet Resort. This includes administering any medications your pet may need. Our professional staff is highly experienced in providing these specific mediations, and we want to make sure every pet is happy, and healthy! Check out our Dog Boarding page to read more about your pup’s stay!

Is there a veterinarian on site?

If any health concerns arise, we will contact you and your personal veterinarian immediatley. We have strong relationships with the local vets in Steamboat Springs that we will contact as well in case of emergency. Rocky Mountain Pet Resort owner, Joel Harris, and his partner Dr. Sarah Love, DVM, both live on site of our boarding facility. Dr. Love is the owner of Sport Dog Specialty Medicine and can provide help during emergency situations, if available. If you would like to learn more about Dr. Love’s practice head over to her website here!
